10 Tips to Lift Your Mood During Quarantine- Physical and Mental Health

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

Quarantine has been hard on a lot of us. We can’t go anywhere we used to- movie theaters, malls, restaurants, and more are out of the question for many families. It can get depressing, sitting around all day just staring at the wall. Everyone needs some inspiration on how to feel better right now. So, here it is- 10 (actually useful) tips that will help you lift your mood during quarantine!

Tip 1: Turn on some lights

If you have fairy lights in your room that you never turn on, now is the time!

Simply turning on a light can brighten your room and your mood.

Tip 2: Family game night

Plan a friendly competition your family will love! You can play Jeopardy, a board game, or simply quiz each other with trivia you find online. Spending time with family members is a great way to lift your mood.

Tip 3: Get something done

It may seem boring now, but you’ll thank me for it later! We all have things we want/have to get finished. Finishing something off is satisfying and will make you feel productive.

Tip 4: Video chat with your friends

Just because you can’t see them in person, doesn’t mean you can’t see them at all! Video chatting with your friends is a great way to catch up. You can have a meal together, do a craft, play an online game, or whatever else you want!

Tip 5: Do a quick workout

Doing a quick workout makes you feel happier and healthier. I recommend dance workouts- you might look funny prancing around in your room, but it’s fun and guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Tip 6: Listen to some music

Turning on some music can immediately boost your mood. Bonus points for dancing and/or singing along!

Tip 7: Think about what you are grateful for

Think: what do you value? What are you grateful for? Maybe it’s your family, friends, pet, or even the device you are reading this on. Whatever it may be, take a moment to reflect on everything you have. You can even keep a gratitude journal- write about something in it that you are grateful for every day.

Tip 8: Bake something

Making something is always rewarding. Baking a sweet treat for you and your family will bring everyone together and help pass the time.

Tip 9: Clean or organize something

Having a messy room is very frustrating. So, take just a half-hour of your day and clean it! Turn on some peppy music or call a friend while you work to make it more bearable.

Tip 10: Self-care

Have you been overworking yourself? Or maybe you just want a break? Take a day out of your week and make it all about you! Sleep in, take a warm bath, watch TV, read a book, whatever helps you relax.

I hope these tips helped. If you enjoyed this article, be sure to check out our other blog posts, too!
